Anyone serious about gingerbread (click here for all the mentions of different gingerbreads in this blog), must make a pilgrimage to Sarah Nelson's Grasmere Gingerbread shop!
It's a tiny little shop, next to the graveyard where William Wordsworth and his family are buried. If you can't find it, use your nose - as gingerbread is baked on the premises.
There's quite a few places in Grasmere selling things like Ginger Shortbread or Lakeland Gingerbread, which isn't what I have in mind, so look out for the distinctive packaging:
It's good in tea or coffee, they recommend having it in mulled wine or hot with rum butter. You can also buy it online and they also do some nice Foolish Biscuit and Broken Biscuit cards!
