Twelve miles south of Mancehester is Alderley Edge. As a child, I used to love visiting the edge with its fine views.I thought I’d mix with the footballers’ wives and go shopping in Alderley Edge!
Unfortunately Weinholts the bakers were closed when I called but I have good memories of this shop and aim to go back.For well hung meat and excellent sausage go next door to Alan Jackson Butchers. All the pork (including the sausages) is Gloucester Old Spot.

Harder to find, but worth the effort, is Granthams of Alderley Edge.
It’s a delicatessen/specialist food shop selling bread, cheese, home-cooked dishes, and preserves etc.
