Hopley House, Wimboldsley

Hopley House (formerly known as the Harvest Store) is on the A530 Nantwich to Middlewich Road, 2 miles south of Middlewich and 7 miles north of Nantwich.

Margery, Peter and Trish Reade care passionately about their produce at the Hopley House, which is either local (preferably sourced from within 20 miles, as the crow flies) and sourced from small producers or Fair Trade. In fact the first thing you see as you go in is a map showing just how local all their producers are.

Homemade cakes (including gluten free & diabetic) and preserves are made in the Harvest Store kitchen itself.

They do however have to go to the neighbouring county of Shropshire for their range of alternative meats (such as kangaroo, kudu (antelope) and Boerewors (a spicy African sausage)!

They sell wild bird food (sourced locally of course).

They also have a selection of gifts and even have a range of local handmade cards

There’s a popular tea room and you can stay overnight in a converted 200 year old barn or the farmhouse itself.

Since this article was written, the shop has changed hands.
