Knutsford

I went to Knutsford today (Mrs Gaskell's Cranford). The picture above shows the Gaskell Memorial Tower which is a memorial to the town's famous author.  It's situated by the highly rated Belle Epoque Restaurant, in Knutsford town centre.

Knutsford is the home of Roger and Liz Sutton's Delamere Dairy who produce a comprehensive range of goat's milk dairy products.

I went to see the Farmers Market (held on the first Saturday in the month), but was a little disappointed with the number of stands:
It's opposite the regular market (just off Princess Street):
which takes place every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

I remembered from my last visit to Knutsford a good chocolate shop and a good book shop but was unable to find either :-(.

The Easy Fish Company (Canute Square) sells an attractive range of fish and game:
Woods on Princess Street are good butchers:
However the highlight of my trip to Knutsford, was going to Booth's supermarket:
If you don't know this chain of supermarkets, it's very keen to support local producers and a great place to do your shopping.
I bought, amongst other things, a triple chocolate mouse for my my wife and son:

Hi - next time you go to Knutsford you must try The Courtyard Coffee, which is in The Pennyfarthing Museum off King's Street. The food there is very good and then you can come and stay with us at Pickmere Country Guest House. Look forward to seeing you.
