Kidsgrove Oatcakes

Kidsgrove Oatcakes (was called Brenda's Oatcakes) is not surprisingly situated in Kidsgrove, a town once important for coal mining. It's also the home of the Kidsgrove Boggart, a ghost of a young woman who was murdered by a canal worker and haunts the nearby Harecastle Tunnel (designed by Thomas Telford).

This picture shows the hive of activity which goes on in all these oatcake shops.
When I called a cheese oatcake was 80p and cheese and onion £1-05.

Thought you might be interested that the oatcake shop in Kidsgrove is referred to in my recently published novel 'Tasting the Wind.' You can see the reference on my website. Download the PDF of the first six chapters- it is on page 11.
