Paul and Georgina Harris run a fascinating shop specialising in locally produced and unusual bottled beers, Belgian Trappist and Abbey ales, German wheat beers and Pilsners, Czech and Polish beers, fruit and smoked beers and award winning local cider and perry.
They also have a brewery in the nearby Marches town of Leominster.
The shop also has a wide range of beer glasses, which are designed to compliment their craft beers.
One year, at Ludlow Food Festival, Paul gave an excellent talk about matching beer and cider to food. Much is spoken about which wine you should serve with food, but I had never heard anyone talk so knowledgeably about how to match beer, lager or cider with food.
It set me thinking, I think it is a really nice touch to serve locally produced cider say with a pork dish at your next dinner party rather than wine. We're always been told to drink less, so these drinks have less alcohol than wine (by volume anyway). I'm told that if you go in to the shop with your menu, they'll advise you on matching drinks to courses.
