Manchester - Carluccio’s

I have always liked Italian food, and the affable Italian chef Antonio Carluccio. When my son was at Oxford, I used to enjoy visiting the Bicester branch of Carluccio’s and more recently the branch that has opened in Oxford castle.

So I was delighted to find that there are now two branches in Manchester. One is in the Trafford Centre and the other is in Hardman Square (between Deansgate and the riverside “Leftbank”). I believe there are now 35 branches in total, see http://www.carluccios.com/caffes/search.asp for more details.

Besides a café, there is a deli selling cheeses, hams and salamis, pasta and sauces, bread and pastries, ice cream coffe and biscuits, chocolate and sweets and other Italian ingredients. They also sell Italian wines and Italian liqueurs like Limoncello di Sorrento.

Many will remember Antonio’s forays for wild mushrooms on TV, I always try and have some of his dried mushrooms and mushroom stock cubes in stock to make a tasty mushroom risotto with.

If you’re unlucky enough not to be near one of these shops, you can also order online at http://www.carluccios.com/products.
