Chapel-en-le-Frith

Stocks Cafe & Bistro is located in the historic Market Place, in Chapel-en-le-Frith. If you're wondering why it's called Stocks, have a look at the right hand side of the picture.

If you're planning a day walking in the Peak District, this is a great place to start. They do an award winning traditional Derbyshire breakfast, consisting of locally made sausage, dry cured free range middle back bacon, free range fried eggs, black pudding, savoury duck, Derbyshire oatcake, mushroom and grilled tomato.

This was the first time I've tried a Derbyshire oatcake and I have to say that I thought it was a poor imitation of a Staffordshire oatcake, but you wouldn't expect me to say otherwise? The sausages are either Tissington Old Bangers from White Peak Farm Butchery, the award winning sausages of K M Fletchers Butchers in Chapel-en-le-Frith or they make their own.

They also sell Bradwells ice-cream and will make you sandwiches for you to take away into the hills.
