Didsbury

I once went to a stand up comedy show in Manchester and the comedian (unfortunately I've forgotten his name) said he'd got lost getting to the venue. He went into a newsagent and asked to buy an A to Z of Manchester. The newsagent said "Do you want the ordinary version or the deluxe version?" He asked "What's the difference?" and the newsagent replied "The deluxe version doesn't include Salford, but has a full colour spread on Didsbury"!

My apologies to the good people of Salford for repeating that slight on their city, but Didsbury has always had a reputation for being a bit posh. Anyway posh or not, Didsbury has got some excellent food shops.
I ventured into Didsbury on Saturday to visit the Cheese Hamlet. The Cheese Hamlet is an excellent cheese shop, with a fine selection of cheeses. It also sells other delicatessen items, biscuits for cheese, preserves, chocolates, wine and sherry.

It won the Delicatessen of the Year award for 2006.
