Liverpool - Delifonseca

I usually find I have to go to the suburbs of big cities to get the best food.
Happily if you're in the centre of Liverpool you can get superb food at Delifonesca.
Upstairs is a restaurant and downstairs is a delicatessen.
In the restaurant I had their Great British Platter – rare roasted Welsh Black beef, slice of raised crust pie, Shropshire black ham, Mrs. Kirkham’s Tasty Lancashire cheese, potato and chive salad and tangy pickle and I enjoyed it all. Two could have this as a starter or one as a main course.
They sell a wide range of British cheese including some of my favourites (Mrs Kirkhams Lancashire and Applebys cloth wrapped Cheshire).
The traditional Handmade Raised Crust Pies are really nice, what they varies but it could be spiced mutton & apricot, Cheshire pork and apple, chicken & ham, or game pie.

There's a good selection of salads including Tabbouleh and Spiced Roasted Vegetable Couscous.
They have fresh bread daily.
If you like smoked food they sell items from Cheshire Smokehouse and Derimon Smokery on Anglesey.
If you think ham is tasteless, try their Dukeshill Shropshire Black ham (the ham's not black just the rind as a result of their special marinade).
