They call Church Stretton "Little Switzerland", and it's one of my favourite places. It's a Victorian spa town and a starting place for the ascent of the Long Mynd. It's got many good food shops, including Van Doesburg's gourmet food shop which shall have a post of it's own.
It's got two good butchers. Embreys are a member of Heart of England Fine Foods and besides selling meat also sell cheeses, patés and pies.

Hough & Sons are not far from where the Long Mynd Shuttle bus picks you up (if you're too lazy to climb to the top of Pole Bank (1,693 feet above sea level). It's a traditional butchers who have their own farm four miles away. Their meat comes mainly from their own farm, with the remainder locally sourced. They make their own pies and sausages and the meat is top quality.

I'm sure there's a reason why a shop should call itself Entertaining Elephants, but sadly I don't know why this shop has it's name. It's a wholefood shop which sells fresh bread and also a delicatessen counter. It's good for anyone with allergies or for seeking out that obscure ingredient! They also sell cards etc.

My favourite place to eat in Church Stretton is Berry's. It's easy to miss, but just off the square. They do their best to use organic, free-range and natural products from local producers and suppliers. They do really good savoury tarts and home-made salads served with Swift’s bread and Shropshire farm butter (and if you're not driving wash it down with Dunkerton’s organic cider).
