Mair's delicatessen is in Heworth Village, just over a mile in the east from the centre of York.It's a great delicatessen, famous for it's sandwiches. The staff are friendly and helpful. There's all the usual deli stuff (including York ham) and some nice tarts. It's the sort of shop where you go in for just one thing and come out with a full basket!

MILLIONS OF MALE DUCKS AND GEESE ARE FORCE FED UNTIL THEIR LIVERS EXPAND UP TO 10TIMES THEIR NATURAL SIZE.MANY DIE DURING THE PROCESS OF BEING FORCE FED. AND AT THE SAME TIME MILLIONS MORE FEMALE DUCKLINGS ARE CRUSHED TO DEATH WHEN JUST A FEW DAYS OLD BECUASE THEY DON'T PUT WIEGHT ON AS FAST AS THE MALE DUCKS/GEESE.
SHAME ON MAIRS DELI FOR SUPPORTING THIS SICKENING TRADE.

The sandwiches are to die for with a selection of breads and amazing fillings!! At lunch time the ques are out of the door but it is definatley worth the wait!!! : )
