Bakewell

Bakewell is the only town in the Peak District National Park. It's situated on the River Wye in Derbyshire (not to be confused with the River Wye which starts in Wales and flows into the River Severn or the River Wye which starts in Buckinghamshire and flows into the River Thames). It's a lovely town and a useful centre to explore Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the delightful South Peak area. No food article on Bakewell would be complete without mentioning Bakewell Tarts (or is it Bakewell Puddings?) and that will be the subject of my next post.
It's the home of the Original Farmers' Market Shop, an independant business which operates on the Farmers’ Market rules, aiming to source as much as possible within a 30 mile radius of the shop. Goods are source from further a-field if there are no suitable local producer.
You can buy Gloucester Old Spot bacon, High Peak lamb, game or a three bird roast. This last item consists of a boneless combination of free range duck, chicken and pheasant interlayered with pork sausagemeat and sage & onion stuffing.
