Houghton Mill

We decided to visit Cambridge recently and stayed overnight at Houghton. It's a delightful place, we stayed at Cheriton House, one of the nicest bed and breakfast places I've ever stayed in. The wholemeal flour for their brown bread is milled 150 yards away at Houghton Mill! I would recommend the walk from Houghton to Hemingford Abbotts across the flood meadows and to St Ives along the Thicket Path.

The mill is owned by the National Trust, it's the last working watermill on the Great Ouse. Inside the mill are models to show how the mill works. Stone-ground flour is often available to purchase.
