For my overseas readers I should point out that tonight is bonfire night in the UK. This is when we celebrate the foiling of the attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605, although I have seen stickers saying bring back Guy Fawkes! On bonfire night it's traditional to have foods like toffee apples, parkin and treacle toffee (pictured above).
A good place to get your treacle toffee from is the Toffee Shop in Penrith, just off Junction 40 on the M6. They've been making toffeee and fudge since 1910, and have many famous customers including Prince Charles and Princess Anne.
