A Christmas Cracker

Last night we went to Birmingham, to see Jasper Carrott's Christmas Cracker at the NEC.   For less than £30 (+ the annoying £3 booking fee) we got to hear music provided by Elkie Brookes, Escala, UB40, Rik Wakeman, Tony Iommi, Dave Berry, Bev Bevan and Toyah Wilcox.  Dance was provied by the Birmingham Royal Ballet.  Comedy was provided by Lee Wilson, Bobby Davro, Lee Mack and of course Jasper Carrott.  Roy Wood finished it off with "I wish it could be Christmas every day".  A great evening, thanks to all who performed free of charge to raise around £200,000 for charity.
Anyway a short walk down my favourite Birmingham street (Needless Alley) gets you to the world’s largest authentic German Christmas market to be staged outside of Germany or Austria.
You can enjoy Glühwein, grilled sausages, pretzels, gingerbread, crepes (which seemed to be pronounced Crapes in Brimingham).
Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas market finishes tomorrow (23rd December 2008).
