Llangollen - Fudge

The shop at the top of this post, just above the town's famous 12th century bridge over the river Dee, was the first gift shop to appear in Llangollen.  It sells farmhouse icecream and cream and butter fudge, made on the premises (as supplied to a top London store).

However they have a rival, Uncle Peter's fudge.  Peter Tofalos has been making fudge since 1996 and Uncle Peter's fudge is the preferred brand in our house.  Flavours include White Chocolate and Bailey's fudge, Rich Dark Chocolate fudge, Tofudge (toffee fudge), Triple Chocolate Cheesecake fudge and White Chocolate and Demerara Fudge.  Peter's a nice man (he was a restaurateur and hotel manager) and he's won several awards.   Peter doesn't compromise, his fudge is made in small batches from butter and not margarine, cream and not milk powder or condensed milk and he uses no preservatives.  He also makes a Scot's Tablet, a traditional Scottish recipe given to him by a Scottish neighbour in Llangollen.

He doesn't have his own shop but sells in several shops in the town (including Baileys and Bits 'n' Bobs pictured above).  You can buy his fudge at some Farmers' Markets.  You can also buy his fudge online from www.localfoodshop.co.uk.
