Stafford - Greengate Deli

The Greengate Deli not surprisingly is on Greengate Street, not far from Stafford's amazing Ancient High House.  When I discovered that the Greengate Deli was part of the Lewis Partnership, I knew that I was in for a treat.  The Lewis Partnership own one of my favourite restaurants, - the Moat House Hotel at Acton Trussell, which is well known for high quality food based on local ingredients where possible.

In the shop there's take away sandwiches etc at the front of the shop, but it's worth going to the back where there's a deli counter.  They sell home baked tarts hand made by Karen Kemp of the Local Tart Company in Stafford, pickles and preserves from Posh Pickles  and also Clippy’s Apples (both from Cheshire), pâté from Katies Proper Pâté (also from Cheshire) and Patchwork Pâté from Ruthin.  They sell gourmet stuffings from the Shropshire Spice Company and Tipsy Fruit Gins from Worcestershire.  It's a good place to get those extra bits for your Christmas lunch.

Sadly the Greengate Deli is no longer trading, see: http://www.greengatedeli.co.uk/?page=26
