As a teenage student in Reading I used to get the train to London to go to Soho to look at the cakes in the window of Patisserie Valerie! Then I couldn't afford them, now (as someone who has diabetes) I can only look or buy for others :-(.
They've now got quite a few cafés in London, and also Bristol, Oxford and Milton Keynes, but Soho was where it started. It's worth going, even if you're just looking, as their cakes are works of art.Patisserie Valerie
