I thought whilst I was in Hereford I ought to seek out some Hereford beef. A helpful lady in the tourist information centre recommended H A Rutherford & Sons. The shop is not far from the cathedral just south of the Wye Bridge.
H A Rutherford & Sons have been trading since 1954, Andrew Rutherford is the grandson of Harry Rutherford who started the business.
He told me they had customers come from Cheshire, who'd told him they couldn't buy decent beef in Cheshire! That's fighting talk where I come from (and the customers clearly weren't readers of this blog), but he did sell me a nice beef of sirloin.
