Penrith

Penrith is an attractive market town just outside the Lake District National Park.  Market days are on Tuesday and Saturday and there's a Farmers' Market on the 3rd Tuesday of the month.

There are some great food shops including the Toffee Shop (which I've already covered here) and J & J Graham Grocers and Delicatessen and Cranstons which I'll cover next.

I'm told that the Brunswick Deli is good, but it was closed by the time I got there.  It's nice to have an excuse to go back.......

We recently stayed in a Cottage For Rent in The Lake District just outside Kirkby Lonsdale, and visited the Toffee Shop in Penrith. It is definitely worth a visit, especially for the Penrith Fudge!! You can also buy this in the old fashioned sweet shop in Kirkby Lonsdale.
