Eccleshall - Macleod's Fine Foods

We sometimes come through Eccleshall when the M6 has ground to a halt, and having found Macleod's fine foods we might be going this way regardless of the traffic on the M6!  It's run by Donnie Macleod and David Wiggins and is a happy mixture of local specialities and fine foods from all over the world.
I bought some Cornish crab (and some crab soup).  They've got a good selection of English and continental cheeses, including Appleby's Cheshire, Butler's Lancashire and Mr Moyden’s handmade Shropshire cheese. There's a good selection of coffee that they will grind to order (they sell over 35 different beans).
You can have a coffee in the shop, which gives you more time to decide on what to take home!
It's not easy doing this blog - I couldn't decide whether to test the red pepper and leek tartlet:
or the caramelised onion and mustard variety (and yes we did have both!).

Donnie's home baked products are definitely highly recommended by our family. A picture would not do the chocolate brownie justice, you can even tell by smelling it that it's made with chocolate with 70% cocoa solids...
