I thought I'd begin this post with a picture of No 1 Church Lane, Ledbury. It's nothing to do with the Velvet Bean, except that it's very close. This building is now used as a registry office, but upstairs you can see an amazing 16th century painted room:
Apparently the owners couldn't afford wallpaper! One of the texts says "Better is a dinner with greene hearbs where love is, than a fat oxe and hatred therwith".

A few yards up the lovely Church Lane:
is the Velvet Bean.
Ben and Melissa Boyle's Velvet Bean chocolate shop is a delightful, but small, chocolate shop. Their handmade chocolates are made from the finest Belgium chocolate made from a large variety of cocoa beans from all over the world. Amongst the truffles and pralines, I bought one containing chili and refused to tell my family which one it was. They enjoyed their game of Chili Roulette!
