Pearsons of Ingleton

Ingelton is a great place. It's a handy base for climbing the Three Peaks (if you're athletic) or the Waterfalls Trail (if you're not so athletic).

The town is dominated by an 800 feet long and 80 feet high railway viaduct.  In the old days the London and North Western Railway (LNWR) and it's rival the Midland railway each operated a station at Ingleton on either side of the viaduct.  The companies refused to cooperate and so passengers had a strenuous hike between the two stations!

There's an 800 year old Norman font in St. Mary's church:
When I was in Bentham, trying Ingleton Gingerbread, I asked a very helpful lady if there were any other good food shops in the area.  Bentham has 2 good butchers, but she told me there was also a good one in Ingleton that was famous for its pies.  When she told me it was called Pearsons of Ingleton I knew I had to go!
It's been Pearsons of Ingleton since 1956, it's a butchers and delicatessen with a bakery at the back of the shop.
They specialise in gold medal award winning hand-made pies, sausages and fresh meats sourced from local farms.
Pearsons of Nantwich (me) sampled their pork pie, a game pie and a Cornish (or should it be Ingleton) pasty.  All were excellent and our family gave particular praise for the pastry.
