Aberaeron - Hive on the Quay

I can think of three good reasons for visiting the Hive on the Quay.
The first one is Fish on the Quay. Fishmonger Will Willis is an expert and will give you advice on what is available, all of which is top quality:
They sell spider crab, which is caught in Cardigan Bay which many think is better than brown crab.

The second reason for visiting is the excellent café/restaurant next door, where you could have fantastic food like seafood chowders, crab and lobster salads or crab sandwiches.

You could have a dessert like key lime pie, but you may prefer to go outside for my third reason for visiting - Honey Ice Cream.
We went for blackurrant, which was delicious, and almost as red as the house behind it!

We used to go there when we were on holiday 20 years ago; I remember it as a small museum that also sold wonderful ice-cream. I remember the painted houses too!

It's an amazing place isn't it? Apparently one house in every four is listed either as being of special architectural or historical interest!

What a shame you weren't there on Friday the 28th. There is a local producers' market in the courtyard of the Hive each Friday. You could have sampled local veg, cheese, flour, bread and eggs too.
Aberaeron has charm, a welcoming atmosphere and offer great culinary experiences.
