Today is the start of Pennine Lancashire's Festival of Food & Culture. Attractions include: gourmet short breaks, culinary canal cruises, fun with fudge, opera and strawberries, steam train lunches, ale trails and medieval food markets. It continues until the 17th September 2009, but the highlight (for some) will be on the 31st August 2009, when it's the third World Gravy Wrestling Championships.
As a child I was not even allowed to do potato printing, food was for eating and not playing with, so I'm not entirely sure it's right? On the other hand it's to raise money for the East Lancashire Hospice and it does look rather amusing:
