When I'm not working, or writing this blog, I like to get into the country and go for a walk. Macclesfield Forest, in the Peak District, is a nice place for a walk, and best of all you can get good local food there as well.
Nice Nosh is situated in Trentabank car park, at the back of the ranger's room and provides food most weekends.
It's run by a nice man called John Sellors, whose slogan is "Peak flavours are planet savers". There's a range of quality food and drinks, sourced locally or home-made where possible.
The cake of the day was a blackberry and apple cake (served warm with custard). When it comes to the blackberries I suspect we're talking not food miles but food yards!

They sell Povey's oatcakes. The bacon butties contain Mycock's home cured bacon:
Cakes include Tindall's Thar and Wakes cakes from Tideswell. The home made cakes are particularly good. We didn't try the parkin, but noticed another walker going back for a second helping! We can however recommend the Derbyshire fruit cake:The cake of the day was a blackberry and apple cake (served warm with custard). If you want a short walk you could do John's Find your feet in the Forest walk, there's an easy to follow written guide available from Nice Nosh's web site.
