Machynlleth

Machynlleth is a historic market town at the head of the Dyfi estuary. It's here that Owain Glyn Dwr summoned a parliament in 1404, and there's an exhibition commemorating this in the parliament house:

Not far from Machynlleth is the Centre for Alternative Technology. It's been offering solutions to problems like climate change, pollution and the waste of precious resources sine 1974 and is well worth a visit. They also have a café in the town, selling good food with a healthy emphasis, and also nearby a whole foods shop.
