Walmersley Falshaw's Farm

Falshaw's Farm shop is on the A56, between Bury and Ramsbottom, not far from junction 1 of the M66. There's a café selling hot and cold meals, including home made lamb and beef burgers and a farmhouse lunch (3 Lancashire cheeses served with a mixed salad, roll, butter, coleslaw and chutneys). You can sit inside:
or outside looking across the farm.
There's a shop selling Stavelys free range eggs, home made savoury pies
and meat from their pedigree Suffolk sheep and crossbred lambs and their own beef.
However it's their own ice cream we would especially recommend. When we called flavours included double chocolate chip, cookies and cream, espresso, ginger, strawberry and pink grapefruit sorbet. I think the best way to try a farmhouse ice cream is to try the vanilla. Here we offered a choice between royal bourbon vanilla and our favourite, Falshaw's farmhouse vanilla.

As more and more people nowadays, I would choose food made in a farm, rather than found on supermarket shelves. Organic food ( for sure) - that is. A lot healthier.

I purchased some beef from the farm shop and made a beef stew, it was so tasty, the meat was so tender and flavoursome. The ice-cream is gorgeous, much better than thorntons and my children love coming to look at the animals and play in the grounds. To improve i think maybe a playhouse or bouncy castle in high summer an enjoyable way to spend an hour.

A family run and very family friendly farm shop / cafe / ice cream parlour. Great experience for all the family set in the countryside of Walmersley. Excellent value for money and exan meal is a speciality.

Lovely ice cream, great views and loved the farm animals. HOWEVER What an awful day we had today. We drove purposely to sample the food and drink at Falshaw's but despite the claim to give a warm and friendly welcome, this certainly was not the case and they made us all feel very unwelcome. A new member of staff was treated awful by the other members of staff, making them come outside to appologise for their lack of professionalism as we asked for some hot drinks and was told by one of the Falshaw family members "actually we are supposed to be shut and we are only serving ice cream" and the new member of staff had made some-one a drink when they were not suppose to!!. Correct me if I am wrong but when all advertising signs say open this means all of your services are open unless out of order. We were approached by other customers complaining about the smell. There were customers letting their dogs foul on the grass directly next to the children's play area and toys! therefore their 5 star hygiene rating needs to be re-evaluated! enough said I reckon!

I've just eaten Sunday Lunch at Falshaw's Farm Shop. It was delicious and excellent value for money. All staff were extremely professional, surroundings beautifully maintained. I had a thoroughly lovely time. It is obvious that they work hard, so deserve a well earned rest at the end of the day, but enjoy what they are doing. It was good also to see a real farm at work just next door. A real family affair!
