Halloween

Today in the UK it's Halloween. I've always been a bit against Halloween, regarding it as one of the poorer things to have come across the Herring Pond. Since reading Wikipedia, I've discovered that Halloween has origins in the ancient celtic festival known as Samhain and it was the Irish that took it to America.

I particularly dislike trick or treat, a license to ask for protection money. It's a bit like Knock-up Ginger - which some wag said is now called Parcelforce!

Apparently Barmbrack is traditionally eaten on Halloween, but I've not seen it over here? However if you want a pumpkin (with attitude) you could try Borough Market, which I'll cover properly in a future post.
