Hawkshead - The Honeypot

I've started this post with a picture of the beautiful 17th century pub, the Tower Bank Arms. If you took away the cars, it looks like it's come out of "The Tale of Jemima Puddleduck". That of course is true , because Beatrix Potter lived at Hill Top, just behind the pub. Hill Top must be one of my favourite National Trust properties.

A couple of miles away is Hawkshead, a pretty Lakeland village where William Wordsworth went to school. The Honeypot is a delicatessen at the top of the square in Hawshead:
It's a packed shop that sells Lakeland honey and other local foods:
The owner, Fiona Wilson, and her family are very particular where they source their food and goes for the best produce they can find in the region. Meat comes from Higginsons of Grange which was voted "Britains best butcher". You can buy Bratwurst made in Grange over Sands!
The bacon comes from Richard Woodall. They sell Wensleydale cheese (as endorsed by Wallace and Gromit‎) and Cumberland Farmhouse cheese:
You can also buy home made soup, bakery products and fudge from the Toffee Shop in Penrith.
