I see that Stockbridge High Street, in Hampshire, was declared Britain's Best Foodie Street this month in the Google Street View Best Streets Awards. I would have thought that Turnham Green Terrace in Chiswick should have been in this competition? I've already mentioned a good butchers, deli and chocolate shop on this road, today I'm featuring Covent Garden Fishmongers on Turnham Green Terrace and I've not finished with this road yet!
Philip Diamond (author of the Covent Garden Fishbook) started the business in 1982 in Covent Garden. It's now moved to Chiswick and supplies retail customers and hotels and restaurants. There's a good selection of fresh fish, smoked items included smoked eel, kippers, haddock, mackerel, salmon, scallops, trout and roe. Deli items included squid ink, octopus salad, quail eggs and caviar. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful.
