Douglas Willis have been trading since 1940, selling Usk valley beef, Monmouthshire lamb, free range woodland pork, Norfolk free range poultry and wild game. It's a family run business, with Douglas's son and 2 grandsons working together. They've got a shop in Cwmbran and another, just over a mile away, in Llanyravon. Douglas Willis own 2 farms which supply the beef, and all other products are sourced from specially selected local farms where animal welfare is utmost.
They've won numerous awards, in 2006 they were voted UK Independent Meat Retailer of the Year. They're innovative, and their shop does hot food to take out and even has a noodle bar.
Besides the retails shops, last year they moved into on-line sales so that people outside the area could buy their produce. We've tried this service and were very impressed.
The order came when they said it would, it was well packed and the ice packs to keep the meat cold were still frozen.
The sausages are made with lean pork belly or shoulder and natural flavourings. Every week they make 3 special varieties besides the usual flavours. We tried 6 different sorts of their sausages:
They were all excellent, the favourite in our taste test was the Pork, Honey & Mustard.

(Perfect Pork, Pork & Herb, Pork & Leek, Pork & Cracked Black Pepper, Pork, Honey & Mustard and Pork, Apple & Stilton).
(we grilled the sausages and virtually no fat came out). They were all excellent, the favourite in our taste test was the Pork, Honey & Mustard.
