Blackburn - Chilli Lime Deli

Next door to Exchange Coffee in Blackburn is Chilli Lime Deli.

John Caffrey has owned the Chilli Lime Deli for five years, and is clearly keen on chillies!  A supplier in Cumbria makes chilli sauces specially for this shop. John organises the Big Chilli Cook off, where amateur and professional cooks compete to become Blackburn's Chilli Champion and raise money for charity at the same time.  The finals this year will be on 24th July 2010 when John has also helped organise a new Farmers' Market, which will be held in Flemming Square on that date and again on the 4th Saturday of each month.
The shop also sells jams and pickles from Oswaldtwistle, chocolates made in Longridge, and award winning pies from Dales Butchers of Kirkby Lonsdale.  On Fridays and Saturdays you can buy fresh bread baked in a wood fired oven.  On the cheese counter you'll find two different cheeses of the week, usually bought from the many small but excellent local producers.   They also have good links with a importer of Italian foods, and sell an interesting range of Mediterranean produce.

Since writing this post this business has closed.

I went past this today (19/11/2010) and it looks like its closed for good so you may want to check before you travel.

If it has closed then its an absolute shame as it was a first class shop with some very nice products.
