Truffles Deli is one of those shops where you pop in for just one thing, but the longer you're in there the more things you spot, and you end up coming away with all sorts of tasty items!
It's run by Richard and Hayley Mayo and is well worth making a significant detour to visit! It's a delightful mix of local food and unusual items imported from Italy and Spain.
You can buy Jamon de Trevelez:
Trevélez is the highest village in Spain, (1476 metres above sea level) and is famous for it's royal crown Trevélez ham. As it's so windy there, less salt is needed to cure the ham and it tastes sweeter.
Many items are made in the kitchen at the back of the shop, where you can buy delicious home made tarts and salads and home made soups in winter.

There's an excellent selection of local ciders and perry:
I liked the sign quoting Chepstow poet Edward Davies (1796):
No better cider does the world supply,
Than grows along thy borders, gentle Wye.
Delicious, strong and exquisitely fine,
With all the friendly properties of wine.
There's a particularly good selection of British and Continental cheeses, try some Delice de Cremiers with some local cider.Truffles Deli
