Penmaenmawr - Becws Alun

I start this post with a picture of the statue of William Gladstone in Penmaenmawr.  Gladstone is the only person to have served as British Prime Minister on four separate occasions and was a constant visitor to "dear old Penmaenmawr".
Becws is the Welsh word for bakery, and Alun Williams makes good old-fashioned, hand made, traditional bread.  Alun's passionate about what he does, and you wont find emulsifiers and preservatives in his bread.
Alun specialises in sourdough, which is proved slowly before baking.  It's made from just a few ingredients: water, flour, salt and natural wild yeast.

He also makes Waterford soda bread (with buttermilk), baguettes with French wheat, spelt loaves as well as the the usual white and brown baps, bloomers, cobs and tin loaves.
