Bordeaux Quay is situated in an old Bristol docks warehouse, where barrels of wine from Bordeaux used to arrive! It's now a restaurant, brasserie, wine bar, deli, bakery and cookery school, all in one place. The eco restaurant has achieved a gold rating under the Soil Association's sustainable catering scheme, and was a runner up for best UK ethical restaurant in this year's Observer Food Monthly awards.
The deli is next door to the restaurant.
Here you can buy Scotch eggs from the Hand Made Scotch Egg Company:
and good old fashioned bread from their bakery, made using traditional methods and with organic flours from Gloucestershire. There's a selection of carefully chosen cheeses, like Keens un-pasteurised cheddar or Godminster organic cheddar.
To go with the bread and cheese you can buy cider from The Orchard Pig (near Glastonbury).
They're also stockists of Willie Harcourt-Cooze's chocolate. There's some nice cakes including meringues:
and some of the nicest ice-cream and sorbets we've ever had! Flavours were definitely for adults and included Piemonte Hazelnut and Tiramisu ice-cream, and Amalfi lemon sorbet and this delicious plum sorbet: Bordeaux Quay
