I went to Stockport today, to have a look at the "pop up" 1930's grocery store that the BBC had done as part of the Turn Back Time series. There's some great old buildings in Stockport:
and it was an interesting visit. It took me back to my childhood, you couldn't get in the shop without being greeted by a genial grocer:
Its interesting to see how designs have changed, can you spot the Rowntree's fruit pastilles below (click on the picture for a better look).
The Rolos cost 2d (less than 1p). Do you remember how birds used to peck the foil milk bottle tops and how someone else always took the top of the milk? There was also a mock up of a living room:
