Manchester - The Cocoa Emporium

The Cocoa Emporium has already been mentioned in this blog, when it was at Ashton Farmers' Market.  Now they have a new home in Afflecks, in Manchester's trendy Northern Quarter.  I'm showing my age now, as I refer to Afflecks as Affleck's Palace (its name when Manchester was Madchester). Worse still I remember it when it was Affleck and Brown - the 'Harrods of the North' a department store which got closed down after Debenhams took it over.

Whether you go through the entrance on Oldham Street (pictured at the top of this post) or the Church Street entrance:
you may wonder where on earth I've sent you, if you've not been before!

Sadly this sign (photo taken by plentyofants):
no longer exists.  Inside the old department store is an amazing mixture of small independent traders.
One shop I can quite literally say is Pants, there's also clothes for goths and punks, great tee shirts, interesting jewellery and posters.
You'll need to get to the corner of the first floor to find the Cocoa Emporium.
Here you can have a drink in their café,
 and enjoy a cupcake:
Many of the cupcakes and chocolates are suitable for vegans.  You can look out of the window, over the tops of Manchester buses, as you peruse the chocolate marshmallow stirrers and other delights:
If you want to learn more about cocoa, try the bags of different types of Valrhona chocolate:
there's also hand made chocolates (made by Helen) and even chocolate spaghetti!
