Shops specialising in frozen foods don't normally get a mention in this blog, but I'll gladly make an exception for COOK. I'd already spotted their attractive frozen ready meals in various farm shops, but hadn't realised that they now have a chain of shops selling their products. Most of the shops are in the South, but there's a branch in Harrogate and I visited the branch in Formby:
Their meals are made in their kitchens in Kent, by their team of chefs, using methods similar to what a good cook would use at home. So, if you fancy dishes like Monkfish Wellingtons (marinated monkfish with slow-cooked Mediterranean vegetables wrapped in a puff pastry lattice) and Dauphinoise Potatoes, but haven't got the time to prepare them youself, this is an easy solution.
They also sell a range of puddings and cakes and also Just Rachel's fabulous ice-cream.
