Harrogate - Fodder

I've been itching to go to Fodder, on the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, since it opened two years ago.  It's run by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, and is Britain's first charitable food hall (with all profits re-invested to benefit the rural community).

I liked the quote on the wall "Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all":
almost as much as the mushrooms!
If they've got a display like this in June, I can't wait to see what it's like in the autumn.

All their meet is hung for at least 3 weeks.
As someone from the side that won the War of the Roses, I was pleased to see a Lancashire Bomb cheese by the cheeses from Wensleydale and Swaledale (with or without Old Peculier)!
At the back of the shop, there's a café:
where you can try seasonal dishes, made with local ingredients.

This month's cake of the month is Ali's peach and raspberry cake:
As you would expect, 85% of their produce is sourced directly from Yorkshire and the Humber.

There's Yorkshire ham in the Yorkshire handmade pizzas:
Anyone from Lancashire or Yorkshire should know Parkin, but I'd not come across Parkin Pudding before:
You can now drink your  Yorkshire tea out of a Yorkie mug ("you can take the lass out of of Yorkshire, but you can't take Yorkshire out of the lass").
There's a nice selection of bread and cakes:
These meringues are made by "a lovely lady just outside Selby".  Their serving suggestions included with Yorkshire strawberries, Joe Dickinson's Longley Farm cream and Sutton Orchard fruit sauce.
Lastly there's an attractive display of cookies by the till:
