Walk Mill

I love old mills, I've already covered Houghton Mill, in Cambridgeshire in this blog, and today thought I'd cover a mill in Cheshire.
Walk Mill is in a new building, but it's been built on the site of the original mill, which dates back to 1200.

It's a working mill. and you can watch the flour being ground.
The tiles, the sack hoist outside the building, and the damsel (pictured below) are all from the original mill.
Having watched their own wheat being made into flour, you can then have a home made cake made with the flour in the Miller's Kitchen café.  You can also buy some of their flour:
or some of their delicious bread:
We bought some of their malted granary to take home.

Whilst you're in the area, it's a pleasant walk along the river to the "Roman Bridges" at Hockenhull Platts.
