Bispham Green - Home Farm Shop

I first heard about the Eagle and Child in the excellent North West Nosh blog.  A pub next door to a farm shop is my idea of heaven!  The farm shop and deli are both owned by the Ainscough family, who've been in the area since the 13th century.  Other businesses they own include The Wizzard at Alderley Edge and Miller Howe in the Lake District.  I like how each of these popular businesses has got its own individual character and feel.

The Eagle and Child is just 5 miles or (10 minutes) from Junction 27 of the M6.
The Farm Shop is situated in an old barn, next door to the pub. As you go through the door you go past locally grown Lancashire tomatoes:
and squashes (or are these gourdes)?
Inside the shop there's a butchers, selling beef from their own pedigree herds of Red Polls, Lincoln Reds, Aberdeen Angus and Belted Galloways.  There's Sandhams, Singletons, Mrs Kirkhams and Leagram Organic Lancashire cheeses. Other finds include Morecambe Bay Potted Shrimps and Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding:
They've also got a good selection of organic wines:
and being close to Wigan, they have to sell Uncle Joe's mint balls:
