Toogood Farm Shop

I first heard about Toogood Farm Shop from Foody Phil, who is an authority on good food shops in Lancashire.  So I knew it was going to be good before I even got there.

It's just over a couple of miles from Junction 27 on the M6, on Toogood Lane, and well worth making a visit.
It's amazing how much the Rowley family manage to pack into their shop.

There's home produced eggs:
with free-range/rare breed/duck eggs also available.

Their grass fed and traditionally reared beef is matured  for a minimum of 21 days.  I tried some of their brisket which tasted great.
There's also their own rare breed pork, and free range chickens from a farm at Poulton.

I was told they aim to provide a one shop stop, and what they don't produce themselves they source as locally as possible.  There's milk, butter and cream from Rowland's Dairy in Mawdesley, bread comes from the Old Bakery at Bretherton.  They also sell Mrs Dowsons fantastic ice-cream.
There's a good range of fruit and vegetables, including items you don't normally see elsewhere - like Chow Chow:
and Salsify:
There's much more besides, which I haven't had time to mention, so why not give them a visit to find out more?
