Orton - Kennedys Fine Chocolates

David and Alison Kennedy have been making and selling chocolates in Orton since 1991.

Customers include posh hotels and British Airways - who got them to make “The Concorde Selection” of chocolates. So they claim their chocolates were the first to travel faster than the speed of sound! 

It's not just chocolates they sell, you can buy items like Moores biscuits, Tracklements Preserves and lovely fudge from The Toffee Shop in Penrith.

I like the way they sell chocolate novelty items, some for less than £1.  I bought some milk and white chocolate owls, so that we could tell our birdwatching friends we'd seen quite a few owls on holiday! 

At the back of the shop there's a Coffee House with a viewing windows - so you can see their chocolates being made. 

They must be doing something right, as they now employ nearly 30 people! So, if you're stuck for ideas for a Christmas gift, you know where to come...
