Shrewsbury - Bread and Loaf

There's always something exciting about buying a warm loaf of bread, that's just come out of the oven.

Bread and Loaf is a new artisan bakery, run by Kate and Martin in the shop that used to be Shrewsbury Bakehouse (so it's dead handy for the station):
All their bread:
is baked on the premises
Kate trained with Tom Baker, at the wonderful Loaf in Stirchley. So you know they're only going to use flour, water, yeast and salt to make their bread (apart from the flavoured & speciality breads) and they're keen supporters of the Real Bread Campaign.

They're particularly keen on their Sourdough
which doesn't even have yeast added.

When I called they had a cheese and marmite loaf and a marmalade maslin. It's worth liking their Facebook Page, to find out what they're doing next!

If you've got a sweet tooth they sell unusual things like this blackcurrent and vanilla focaccia:
as well as more traditional items like flapjack and everyone's favourite - brownies:
They're only open Thursday to Saturday, but like the Loaf they stay open till quite late and bake in the afternoon as well.
