Ilkley - Poppy Pickering

I always enjoy visiting Ilkley, whether to peruse the fine shops or bravely go on the moor (without my hat) and now I've found another reason to visit Ikley.

Poppy Pickering Bespoke Cakes & Chocolates is a family business, it's less than 5 minutes walk from the train station, on the main road that runs through the town:
Daughter Dominique makes absolutely stunning wedding cakes:
and celebration cakes (I want one like this):
Check out their Facebook page to see even more cakes.

Geoff (Dominique's father) makes amazing Belgium style chocolates, pralines and truffles. The chocolates are made in the shop:

it's fascinating watching Geoff make the chocolates (and sniffing the smells).

Dominique makes her own cake decorations:
like these fabulous sugar flowers:
to decorate her cakes, which are (almost) too good to eat!

They make over 45 flavours of chocolate:

and keep coming up with new flavours. Sorry about the glass reflection in the above picture, I did it deliberately ;-), so that I've got an excuse to go back!

They also have chocolate decorations like these chocolate shoes:

It's a great place to come at Christmas:

How about a chocolate Father Christmas?

Although some of the locals prefer chocolate sheep:
They've also got some lovely brandy truffles decorated with holly and ivy at (see first picture in this post). Or how about some shoes?

They also sell gorgeous jams and chutneys from Rosebud preserves (as recommended by Rick Stein) which have won Gold Stars in the Guild of Fine Food's Great Taste Awards. So that's my Christmas presents sorted :-).
