Berlin - Winterfeldtplatz

What do food bloggers do, when they're on holiday? They go looking for different local foods! At the start of this year (sorry I'm a bit behind with some of my postings) we had a very pleasant short break in Berlin. We'd found some nice self-catering apartments, and was happy to find Winterfeldtplatz Farmers' Market was nearby. Here we could buy cheap and fresh vegetables:
and fruit:
all sorts of salads:
(most of which I didn't really know) and fresh fish:
There was bread:
and other bakery products for sale:
and honey to go on your bread:
If you don't want to cook, there's plenty of places where you can buy something to eat like Barbara's Küche:
Barbara is from Swabia, and makes quiches (and all sorts of daily specials) with good quality fresh ingredients. Like Berlin, the market is a pleasant mix of all sorts of people so you can also buy Oriental and Turkish foods:
There's not just food, you can buy flowers:
and cheap and attractive accessories:
I saved one of my favourite stalls to the end, The Pit:
Adam Ramirez is from Texas, and now does authentic Texas barbecues in Berlin. He smokes (over 18 hours) delicious suuculent brisket:
or Berlin ribs (smokey and moist beef short rib, seasoned with cracked black pepper and sea salt) and pulled and shredded pork shoulder, seasoned with Texas Style Pork Rub and Mop Sauce:

My brisket was juicy and tasty. If you've ever had one, this picture will make you drool!
Adam attends different events - so go to his web site to find out where he currently is:

We went to Winterfeldtplatz on a Wednesday, I believe the Saturday market is even better. It will also be better at this time of the year, I expect they'll soon be having locally foraged mushrooms. I believe the market is open 8am until 2pm on Wednesdays and 8 and until 4pm on Saturdays.
