Macarons seem really popular this year. If you're in Edinburgh, Mademoiselle Macaron is a nice place to visit - for a piece of France!
The owner, Rachel Hanretty, was inspired after visiting shops like Ladurée in Paris, and decided that what was good enough for the capital of France should also be offered in Scotland's capital. She trained at the Alain Ducasse Cooking School in Paris and now sells her own macarons in a French-style patisserie and tea salon, situated above Edinburgh castle on Grindlay Street.

They make tradition French varieties as well as ones with their own twist! So besides traditional flavours like Chocolate, Rose, Pistachio and Salted Caramel you can also buy flavours like Innis & Gunn Beer, Scottish Whammy and Whisky & Honey! They also sell a Dairy Free Christmas Orange Spice Macaron.
Since writing this review, this shop has closed. Details where you can buy their macarons are on their web site.
