Furthermore on leaving the establishment (far quicker than we would normally if the situation was dealt with better) the man in the apron then sarcastically smiled said ‘well done’- leaving me to imply well done for not knocking another one over!
I’m not saying that the spill was in any way their fault (actually the top heavy mug simply didn’t fit on the very small saucer) but surely it’s polite to make the customer feel good, limited embarrassment and replace the hot drink free of charge. After all replacing the hot drink probably costs the business 40p compared with an unhappy customer who certainly will not be going back there again.
The food is bought from local farmers and is free range, the food is made in front of you in the exact manner that you wish with the freshest and tastiest ingredients. Plus, the deli makes a great effort in adding new things into the menu as often as possible, with intoxicating new dishes. unlike most food shops in which the menu is concrete for years.
i will keep going to the deli for my weekend lunches for as long as i live in malvern, and probably even if i move away! John's ignorant and obnoxious comment does not reflect the delicatessin which i know and love in any way, or the friendly, helpful (and overall deserving of all praise) staff that work their.
thankyou Great Malvern Deli for many fantastic lunches!
However! This delicatessen is really better than that: the food is largely local, well made, fresh and not excessively costly. The owner did strike me as a bit offhand and cold – perhaps he doesn't like non-locals – but he wasn't rude, per se. I'd certainly go back for more food, especially the panini.
I was a regular customer in the past and it is sad to see how much the deli has declined since it was run by Helen.
